  • Getting Care or Prescription Drugs During a Disaster

If the Governor of Georgia, the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, or the President of the United States declares a state of disaster or emergency in your geographic area, you are still entitled to care from PHP (HMO SNP).

During a disaster, we will allow you to obtain care from out-of-network providers at in-network cost-sharing. If you see an out-of-network provider and he or she bills you for care you receive during a disaster, please send us the bill so that we can pay it. You should not pay the bill. You will still be responsible to pay your share of the cost for the services you get. If you pay for medical services from out-of-network providers, please send us the receipt so that we can reimburse you for our share of the cost. Read more about how to ask us to reimburse you for care you paid for.

If you cannot use a network pharmacy during a disaster, you may be able to fill your prescription drugs at an out-of-network pharmacy. We will only cover out-of-network prescriptions for a maximum 30-day supply. If you must use an out-of-network pharmacy, you will generally have to pay the full cost (rather than your normal share of the cost) at the time you fill your prescription. You can ask us to reimburse you for our share of the cost.
